On January 4, 2026 at 5:36 am, the EPA was notified by the National Response
Center (NRC) of a power substation fire in Dallas, Texas. EPA deployed to the site at 7:30 am, and AFFF foam was used to the fight the fire by the responsible party. There was no impact to the nearby Trinity River. All released
materials and firefighting liquids were contained onsite in secondary
containment and a sump, with the exception of a trickle at the outfall. Oncor,
the Responsible Party (RP), mobilized a spill contractor, who boomed and
contained all firefighting materials.
The Dallas Fire Department and the Texas Commission
on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) also responded to the incident.
EPA's community air monitoring measured no detections for carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
lower explosive limit (LEL), and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Oxygen measurements
were normal.
