On August
27, 2026, at approximately 11 AM, EPA was notified by the National Response
Center of a discharge of 300 barrels of jet fuel A from the Magellan Pipeline
into Berryhill Creek near Tulsa, Oklahoma. Berryhill Creek flows into the
Arkansas River. The responsible party, Magellan Pipeline, responded to the
incident and isolated the discharge with containment boom. There is no known
current discharge into the Arkansas River. A residential area is near the
creek, but no evacuation was necessary.
EPA is the
lead response agency for this incident and deployed an on-scene coordinator and
contractors to the site to conduct air monitoring and assess the area. EPA is
working closely with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ)
and other state, local, federal and Tribal partners to monitor the situation and
coordinate response activities.
EPA will
provide updates as new information becomes available.
