Benson-Montin-Greer (BMG) Drilling Corp., Inc., notified the National Response Center (NRC) of a crude oil spill in an arroyo (Ojito Arroyo) located 80 miles south of Farmington, New Mexico in Rio Arriba County. The area of discharge was reported to be within the Jicarilla Apache Nation land. An initial discharge amount of 150 barrels of crude oil was initially reported to the NRC due to internal corrosion on the pipeline. The amount has been updated to approximately 400 barrels. The EPA phone duty officer notified OSC Enders and the OSC and an EPA Team mobilized to the site to conduct and assessment and provide assistance as needed.  BIA contacted the EPA and will notify the Jicarillo Apache Nation. NMED and DOI were also notified.
