Based on the news coverage below EPA disatched an OSC and START to the K-Solv facility in Channelview, Texas. Around noon, a tanker caught fire at the K-Solv facility causing an adject tank of xylene to catch fire. Firefighters brought the blaze under control before it spread further. It took them about an hour. There were no evacuations or shelter in place orders. The was no NRC report of this incident.
Lates update form Harris County Emergency Managment is that as of 1:47 pm the fire is out and cooling. The chemical involved in the fire at the K-Solv plant has been confirmed as Xylene. HCHM1, HCPHES and Channelview Fire are still on-scene.
