An explosion occurred on a semi-truck and trailer at a Triad Transportation's hazardous waste transportation facility located in a semi-rural area between Benton and Glen Rose Arkansas. Triad reported that wastes of variuos hazard classifications were in the trailer that exploded. EPA representatives, ADEQ, local fire departments, and Triad-led contractors responded to the incident. EPA, ADEQ, and Triad's contractors provided air monitoring support. Fifty to sevent homes were evacuated and roads were closed within one-half mile in all directions. The fire extinguished without water by Sunday morning. On Sunday, the emergency phase ended and the evacuation was lifted.
