This abandoned property has been referred to EPA by the Massachusetts Dpeartment of Environmental Protection for cleanup.
The Preliminary Assessment/Site Investigation (PASI) was completed in fall of 2006. The Site Investigation Closure Memorandum recommended a Time-Critical Removal Action be undertaken to address the high levels of polychlorinated biphenyls and lead in surface soils at the site. The PASI is included as an attached document to this website.
Subsequent enforcement efforts to locate a responsible party able to undertake the cleanup were not successful.
Therefore, EPA funds will be used to perform cleasnup activities.
The removal action is expected to begin in late August, 2007and should be completed by the end of November, 2007.
