On Novemeber 1, 2009, TCEQ responder, Paul Gorman, requested assistance to perform air monitoring at a mystery release in Kennedale, Texas. The Kennedale Fire Department responded to the potential chemical release located in a vacant lot at 812 E Kennedale Parkway. The chemicals of concern were initiatily identified as dimethylamine and chloroacetaldehyde by the Kennedale FD using a HAZMAT ID. The Fire Department contacted TCEQ who then contacted Karen McCormick, phone duty officer. OSC McCormick mobilized Dallas - START and OSC Martin to coordinate and assist TCEQ and the Kennedale Fire Department.
The site is located at 812 East Kennedale Parkway in Kennedale, Tarrant County, Texas. The site is bordered to the north by residential properties, to the east by East Kennedale Parkway followed by several industrial facilities, to the south by a vacant lot, and to the west by Southern Pacific Railroad tracks followed by a grouping of electrical poles. A large shop building is located at the southwestern corner of the site. A smaller shop building is located near the center of the site. The main office building is located at the southeastern corner of the site. The property is fully enclosed with fencing and secured with two locks, one allowing property access to the PRP and one allowing property access to Shamrock Equipment Rental, a former tenant. The property is primarily leased to industrial tenants. However, at the time of the November 1, 2009 response, the site was not leased.
