City of Detroit officials contacted U.S. EPA regarding potential air quality issues emanating from a closed composting facility located at 9521 W. Jefferson in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. U.S. EPA responded by mobilizing START with air monitoring equipment to screen for hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. U.S. EPA met Captain Battle from the Detroit Fire Department on-scene and conducted air monitoring at the facility. No readings for hydrogen sulfide or ammonia were detected. The readings were reported to the Detroit Fire Department and Detroit Environmental Affairs.
