MassDEP requested EPA to remove surface and subsurface soils containing high concentrations of heavy metals. The soil is on municipal property located to the rear of 51-53 Sumner Street in Milford, MA. The property contains part of the Milford Upper Charles Trail and is adjacent to Cedar Swamp Pond.

Elevated levels of antimony, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, lead, lithium, nickel, and zinc are present in the soil at concentrations above the immenent hazard level for MA. The area of concern is approximately 160 ft by 55 ft. The depth is to a maximum of 3 ft.
