On October 7, at about 9:30 this morning, while working on the bank of a 5-7 acre pond in a new housing development, a bulldozer struck a 16 inch Centurion pipeline.
Certurion estimates the total spill will be 1,000 bbls, which is the potential amount that can drain from the pipe. The pond is acting as containment for the oil.
There are fish in the pond but the wind is blowing the oil into the north portion of the pond.
The emergency contractor is LW Environmental Services, Wilson, Ok. They are on site and have begun to pump oil from the pipeline and the pond. Additional storage and pumping equipment are enroute.
EPA has dispatched Region 6 START personnel to the scene to assess the spill and coordinate with the RP, State, and local officials.
