A Texas Trans Eastern tanker truck carrying 7500 gallons of gasoline and 1000 gallons of diesel suffered an unknown mechanical malfunction and caught fire at approximately 00:15 on Friday October 28th. The truck was on the service road near the intersection of Highway 59 and Dairy Ashford in Sugarland, TX. The fire burned for approximately 2 hours consuming most of the product it was carrying. However some of the gasoline/diesel escaped into a storm drain which empties into a retention basin approx. 2 blocks from the site.
Milstead Environmental was hired by Texas Trans Eastern to remediate the remaining fuel from the fire. EPA START Contractors were dispatched to the site to assess conditions and document remedial activities.
