The Poison Control Center in Dallas contacted ATSDR regarding concerns raised by employees at UT Southwestern (children’s inpatient area) for two boys, ages 7 and 11 being treated for mercury poisoning. There is concern that mercury contamination could have been tracked into the hospital area which includes pregnant and nursing women.  ATSDR advised the hospital to bag any articles or original clothing/shoes as a precaution. The source of contamination is unknown at this time. OSC Enders and an EPA Team are deploying to the hospital to monitor the areas of concern and the bagged clothes/shoes.
