On December 22, Swansea Fire Department reported an oil release at Kwik Lube N Tune located on 537 GAR Highway, Swansea, MA to MassDEP. MassDEP responded. Oil was observed at on- and off-site stormdrains and stormwater weir at the Cole River. In the morning of December 23, MassDEP contacted EPA and requested assistance to investigate the spill and monitor the cleanup activities.

At 1030 hrs, December 23, OSC Alex Sherrin was dispatched to the scene.
