1.1.2 Site Description

Oil spill at a residential property.

1.1.2.1 Location

6628 Pirch Way, Elkridge, Maryland

1.1.2.2 Description of Threat

 Approximately 110 gallons of home heating oil spilled from an outdoor storage tank that had fallen over.  The oil migrated approximately 100 feet downgradient, and was moving towards a storm drain that lead to a navigable waterway.   Based on the foregoing, the OSC determined that this incident posed a substantial threat of discharge of crude oil into the navigable waters of the U.S.

On April 25, 2016, the OSC and the EPA contractor returned to the site and placed additional topsoil on the excavation area, applied grass seed, and placed erosion matting over the seeded area.
