1.1.2.1 Location
5020 Hwy 11 South, Calhoun, TN, 37309

1.1.2.2 Description of Threat 
Approximately 220,000 gallons of black liquor process solution containing 3% sodium hydroxide was released into earthen secondary containment.

1.1.3 Preliminary Removal Assessment/Removal Site Inspection Results
Solution is being released into secondary containment.  PRP reinforced containment.  Hepaco minimized release at the valve.  A specialized equipment firm was brought to seal the valve and stop the release.

John Griffey of Abitibi Bowater made notification of the spill event.  Abitibi Bowater hired Hepaco to conduct appropriate response action. 


2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
Hepaco minimized release at the valve.  A specialized equipment firm was then brought in to seal off the release at the valve.  The facility intends to reclaim all of the released material and reuse it in process on site.
