1.1.2 Site Description

1.1.2.1 Location

The Site is located in a residential area east of Atlanta, Georgia.

1.1.2.2 Description of Threat

Telephone Duty Officer received an NRC Report stating that a citizen was concerned that asbestos containing material was not being handled properly at a neighboring property undergoing demolition.

1.1.3 Preliminary Removal Assessment/Removal Site Inspection Results

GA EPD responder collected samples of the material to determine if the asbestos is friable.  Ga EPD responder was very familiar with the requirements for working with and disposing of asbestos containing material.  He is also familiar with the company conducting this demolition and will follow up with them to ensure that all appropriate procedures are adhered to.

OSC Alyssa Hughes met on site and discussed planned response actions with GaEPD personnel.  SOSC collected samples of the material and will be contacting the company responsible for the demolition to ensure that all wastes are handled properly.  No additional assistance from EPA was requested.

The company responsible for the demolition will be responsible for all disposal.
