The State of Michigan was alerted to an oil spill around 9am EST on 11/26/15. Upon investigation MDEQ observed oil in County Drain near Wade Road in Owosso, Michigan. The drain is a tributary to the Shiawassee River. The product observed was a thick black petroleum oil. The source is currently unknown.

The Shiawassee County Emergency Management Coordinator and MDEQ requested U.S. EPA assistance at approximately 1930 hrs.
