At 1140h there was an explosion and reported fire at the Wollaston Alloys, Inc., facility located at 205 Woods Road in Braintree, MA.

Wollaston Alloys produces air ste and shell castings in alloys ranging from carbon steels to nickel based alloys, with net weights up to 6000 pounds. Some of the on site chemicals included alluminum, magnesium, and sulfuric acid.

This facility is located within 1/4 mile of I-93 and current wind conditions indicated that the highway was downwind of the facility.

EPA coordinated with the MADEP prior to mobilizing an OSC to the incident.
