On August 23, 2016 a Woodfin Oil transport tanker carrying 8500 gals of gasoline and diesel fuel overturned at the intersection of Bell Road and Commerce Rd in Richmond, Va. The NRC was notified on August 23, 2016 in the early afternoon hours. The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) requested EPA OSC assistance due to the fact that the majority of the release impacted storm sanitary system which outfalls at the James River. The EPA OSC mobilized to the Site on August 23, 2016 to begin assessment.
