In mid-December, 2017, FEMA requested EPA conduct asbestos removal for impacted parcels in Sonoma, Napa, Lake and Mendocino counties. EPA is working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify and remove parcels with asbestos-containing materials. As of February 24, 2018 EPA has removed asbestos from 724 properties in Napa, Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties. EPA continues to work throughout Sonoma and Napa counties surveying and collecting household hazardous waste. As of February 24, 2018, EPA has surveyed 6,588 parcels in Napa and Sonoma counties for household and other hazardous waste, and work has been completed at 6,586 of those sites. The two sites remaining are due to accessibility and remnant structure issues.
