Pollution Report (POLREP) #2
Site Description
The Kriger Battery removal site is located in Greenwood, Caddo Parish, Lousisana on commercial/industrial zoned property.  The site is a former battery reclamation facility that operated between 1972 and 1982 and consisted of a processing building, acid neutralization pit, and hammer mill area.  Historical sampling conducted by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)shows on-site lead concentrations as high as 112,660 mg/kg.  Elevated lead concentrations have been located off-site on adjoining properties and drainage paths.

Current Activities
Excavation of grids continues.  To date, 13 off-site grids and 19 on-site grids have been excavated.  Of the 32 grids excavated, only 1 on-site grid measures lead at a level above the cleanup level.

The 5 residential off-site grids to the west of the site have been backfilled and restored to completion.

Excavated soils have been stockpiled and sampled for waste profile characterization.
