Site Description
The Kriger Battery removal site is located in Greenwood, Caddo Parish, Lousisana on commercial/industrial zoned property.  The site is a former battery reclamation facility that operated between 1972 and 1982 and consisted of a processing building, acid neutralization pit, and hammer mill area.  Historical sampling conducted by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ)shows on-site lead concentrations as high as 112,660 mg/kg.  Elevated lead concentrations have been located off-site on adjoining properties and drainage paths.  

Current Activities
The treatment of previously excavated soils using a specialized chemical application continued during the reporting period.  As of the end of the reporting period treatment operations have resulted in 1,349 cubic yards of treated excavated soil.  The treatment of all soils excavated to date is complete.

Planned Removal Actions
Commence excavations of grids on the western portion of the site beginning on the south.

Next Steps
Transportation and disposal of waste generated from treatment operations will commence upon receipt of supporting non-hazardous analytical results.
