May 30 2006:  EPA - 1, START - 1, ERRS - 6, DEQ - 8; CAT 330 excavator, T190 Bobcat, Deere 310 backhoe -  Work continued in the Tank 4 area, with one load of metal transported off site from Tank 4.  HPO was on site and excavation was conducted at Tank 4.  A few historical artifacts were found in the backfill beneath and around the tank.  Another grenade and a bullet were found.  XRT was notified and they retrieved the items.  The magnatrack was utilized but had little success in finding additional UXO.  Confirmation and disposal sampling and analysis was conducted at Tank 4.  One truckload of metal was loaded out of Tank 13.  Water treatment continued and one load was transferred off site.  At tank 6, work continued with cutting of the tank shell.  HPO was on site and conducted a walkthrough.  Limbs of a large mulberry tree were cut.  The tree had knocked down the tank wall and then grew up over the tank bottom and wall.  In the afternoon, a hen was found nested in the tank sludge.  It was removed from the oil, but was covered and did not make it.  The XRF which was unable to get functional was packed up for shipment back to Eagle.

May 31, 2006:  EPA - 1, START - 2, ERRS - 5, DEQ - 6; CAT 330 excavator, T190 Bobcat, Deere 310 backhoe -  Water treatment at Tank 13 continued.  The tank was lifted again to assist with water recovery.  Work continued at Tank 6 with cutting and decontamination of the tank.  A landcrab was found in the tank, decontaminated and released.  Excavation continued at Tank 4 with HPO oversight.  A detonator (fuse) and live round was found at Tank 4 and picked up by XRT.  A second round of confirmation sampling was conducted.  Another disposal sample was collected and analysis conducted.  One truck of metal was loaded out at Tank 13.

June 1, 2006:  EPA - 1, START - 2, ERRS - 6, DEQ - 7; CAT 330 excavator, T190 Bobcat, Deere 310 backhoe -  Removal and decontamination of metal at Tank 6 continued and metal was stockpiled for load out.  5 loads of soil  were transferred off site from Tank 4.  Excavation at Tank 4 was completed and some restoration began while trucks were being loaded out.  Additional material would be necessary to complete restoration.  After consultation with HPO, it was decided that berm material would be brought from the Tank 14 area and all backfill would be documented in the final report.  The tank bottom at Tank 13 began to be cut up.  One load of metal from Tank 13 and two loads of metal from Tank 6 were picked up by Basula Producto.  Water samples were prepared and shipped to the Regional Lab.

June 2, 2006:  EPA - 1, START - 1, ERRS - 6, DEQ - 8; CAT 330 excavator, T190 Bobcat, Deere 310 backhoe -  Work continued cutting and decontaminating metal at Tank 6.  The bottom of the tank had a substantial amount of metal inside in the oil.  One load of metal was removed from Tank 6.  At tank 13, tank bottom cutting continued and excavation of contaminated soil began.   A third round of confirmation samples were collected at Tank 4, one hot spot remained.  Characterization samples were collected at Tank 6 and 13 areas.  Tank 6 was found to have limited contamination, while Tank 13 was much more extensive.

June 3, 2006:  EPA - 1, ERRS - 6, START - 1, DEQ - 1; CAT 330 excavator, T190 Bobcat, Deere 310 backhoe - Water treatment at the Tank 13 area was completed and the final load of water was transferred off site.  The oil water separator and holding tank were relocated to beside the connex box so that excavation should be conducted.  Excavation and management of oil and soil at the Tank 13 site continued.  Tank bottom also continued being removed.  At the Tank 6 site, excavation of soils began and management of oil and soils occurred.  The material was moved to one side of the tank so that tank bottom could begin to be cut up.  Resampling of Tank 4 hot spot was conducted after excavation.  Additional characterization samples were collected at Tank 13 and bounded areas needing excavation.
