Current Activities

On May 7, 2007 ERRS and OSC Stanton remobilized to the site to complete site restoration.  Winter damage to the final two properties’ lawns was repaired, and they were freshly seeded.  Minor repairs to several Phase 3 and Phase 4 residences’ lawns were also completed.

OSC Stanton finalized plans for landscaping the final two Phase 4 properties, in consultation with the homeowners.  Vegetation placement changes were included in the final restoration plans. ERRS subcontracted the procurement and installation of shrubs and trees.

Due to additional funding requirements associated with final landscaping and site restoration, a further modification to the ERRS task order of $50,000 was approved on May 10, 2007.

On May 10, ERRS’ botanists and OSC Stanton inspected the large number of trees and shrubs installed during the summer of 2006.  Nine trees on two properties were replaced, since they did not survive the winter.  ERRS’ landscaping subcontractor performed the work concurrent with landscaping the final Phase 4 properties, completing work on June 8.  OSC Stanton provided updated information on the plants’ and lawn care needs to these homeowners.  Cooperation between the residents, EPA and ERRS remained excellent.

On June 13, final photo documentation was completed at all properties landscaped during 2007.  EPA, START, and ERRS personnel demobilized from the site.

Individual residential site assessment, removal action, and photodocumentation reports have been prepared for Phase 1 and Phase 2 properties, along with memos photodocumenting plants replaced on Phase 1 properties. EPA distributed them to homeowners, town and state officials.
