Site Description
The Site is the location of a discharge of oil (reported as recycled oil) into the International Petroleum Corporation facility's containment system.  The containment system was overwhelmed and oil was released into the adjacent Christiana River. The discharge occurred sometime prior to 2000 hrs. on July 15, 2006, and an estimated 2100 gallons was released  into the Christina River.  The IPC facility collects and recycles used oil from a variety of customers and the discharge occurred during a tank transfer.  Oil discharged to the Christiana River and spread with the tide cycles to the nearby Brandywine Creek and Delaware River.  The Site is located in a mixed commercial/industrial portion of the City of Wilmington of Delaware.

Current Activities
There are no current activites at the site.  The 30 day river monitoring period has passed with no futher activities taking place under the emergency response.  DNREC-Site Investigation and Restoration Branch along with State Wetlands scientists, State and Federal Trustess will continue with NRDA activities.  Restoration of wetlands adjacent to the facility will take place under direction of DNREC
