Current Activities
Daily Activities

•  ERRS continued the removal of PCB contaminated debris from the trenches inside Building #6.
•  ERRS backfilled the non-PCB impacted trenches with available on-site foundry sand.  Trenches will be capped with concrete.
•  ERRS continued pumping PCB contaminated water from the pits inside Building #6 and run the water through the on-site treatment system.  Water is stored in frac tanks pending laboratory analysis for disposal parameters.
•  ERRS continues to grade the site for final restoration.
•  START performed perimeter dust monitoring and collected perimeter dust samples for respirable silica during dust activities.  All monitoring/sampling results were less than the site’s action levels.

Current Activities

Note: To date, approximately $18,000 was put back into the project from the recycling of on-site steel.

August 8, 2009 (Saturday) limited crew
•  ERRS graded areas covered by rock.
•  ERRS pumped PCB contaminated water from the pits inside the buildings and ran the water through the on-site treatment system.  Water is stored in frac tanks pending laboratory analysis for disposal parameters.

August 10, 2009 (Monday)
•  ERRS completed excavating pcb contaminated soil found underneath an old transformer pad area in Building #3.
•  START collected one (1) PCB confirmation soil sample from the west end of the floor of the Building #3 PCB excavation.
•  Remaining containers/lab packs/drums were transported off-site for disposal.

August 11, 2009 (Tuesday)
•  ERRS used a breaker on the pcb contaminated concrete as the concrete needs to be less than 2’x 2’ prior to T&D.

August 12, 2009, (Wednesday)
•  Two pcb transformers were transported off-site for disposal.
•  Two (2) 20-yard roll-off boxes of mixed asbestos / PCB waste transported off site for disposal.
•  Scrap steel was transported off site for recycling (including the old crane).
•  ERRS demolished the brick wall between Buildings #3 and #4, and used the brick as backfill in the Building #3 PCB excavation.

August 13, 2009, (Thursday)
•  ERRS continued the evacuation of PCB contaminated water from the trenches inside Building #6. Evacuation includes treatment and on site storage.
•  The final load of scrap steel was transported off site.

August 14, 2009, (Friday)
•  ERRS demolished the remaining (eastern portion) of the wall between Buildings #3 and #4, and used the demolition debris for backfill in the Building #3 PCB excavation.
•  ERRS scraping (removing surface debris) the concrete floors in Building #1 and #2 in preparation of the trucks for off site T&D of PCB contaminated soil nest week.

August 15, 2009, (Saturday)
•  Limited ERRS crew on site for treatment of PCB contaminated water.

Planned Removal Actions
•  Remove and dispose of PCB contaminated water from the pits associated with the building.
•  Remove and dispose of PCB contaminated sand, soils, and concrete.
•  Performing final grading/covering of the property.

Next Steps
Analytical results were recieved for the PCB excavation areas.   Results indicated that the area inside Building #6 needed further excavation and the area in Building #3 was completed.
