Site Description
Buckeye Pipeline contractor struck a 16 inch gasoline pipeline with a jack hammer making a 3/4 inch hole.  The leak lasted approximately 25 minutes from 0810 hours to 0835 hours.  The pipeline was not operating but was pressurized.

No discharge has been detected in waterways.  There are 2 permitted drinking water wells within approximately 400 feet of the spill.  


Current Activities
Local FD on scene monitoring the situation for fire and explosion and discharge abatement.

County EMA responded to scene to assess situation

PADEP Emergency Response and Tank Program responded to scene.  

Buckeye Response personnel are on scene and are making repairs to the pipeline and recovering product in order to stabilize the situation.


Planned Removal Actions
No action (other than technical assistance) planned or requested by EPA at this time.

Next Steps
PADEP will continue to monitor the situation with EPA OSC technical assistance.  

PADEP Tank Program will followup with Buckeye with regard to any required groundwater investigation deemed necessary.

PADEP Water Supply program has advised Nestle that they will need to perform quarterly sampling of the 2 drinking water wells approximately 400 feet from the spill.
