On October 17, 2016, Occidental Chemical reported approximately 2,000 gallons of a 50 percent solution of caustic soda released from a pipeline. The pipeline supplies an adjacent customer north of their facility. On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) Kevin Eichinger was mobilized to the site to coordinate with Alabama Department of Environmental Management and oversee the clean-up of the caustic soda release.
