At 11:20 pm on October 23, 2016, the NRC notified EPA-R6 duty officer of a spill of an unknown amount of crude oil from a Enterprise Products (RP) pipeline onto the soil and a county road adjacent to the company's terminal facility in Cushing, OK. The report was made by the local county Emergency Manager office indicating that the oil was coming from a below ground 30" pipeline. At 12:00 am on October 24, the RP also called the NRC to report the incident indicating that about 5000 bbls were discharged from a rupture line and the pipeline section was isolated. About 1 1/2 hours later, the RP called the NRC again to update the volume to 50,000 bbls. Due to the proximity and the threat of the oil discharging into Wildhorse Creek, EPA-R6 PDO activated FOSC Bernier and START to respond to the incident.
