A tanker truck transporting 8,500 gallons of gasoline was struck by a passenger vehicle and overturned on I-40. The resulting fire burned up a significant portion of the gasoline. Fire fighters have sectioned off the area and have closed a portion of I-40. The initial response was focused on fire suppression and accident investigation. Law enforcement and firefighting personnel are on the scene. A hazardous materials contractor is also at the scene responding to the release. On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) Kevin Eichinger was deployed to coordinate clean up actions with the responsible party.
