MagPro is a magnesium metal recycling facility that generates magnesium oxide and magnesium/aluminum alloys for domestic and international customers. On April 20 at approximately 1600 hours, a fire occurred in the magnesium metal raw product storage area. Workers, who were on site at the time of the fire, immediately implemented emergency response plans. Local fire and emergency officials were contacted and responded. Tennessee Department of Environmental Control (TDEC) and Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) responded and requested Environmental Protection Agency Assistance. A Federal On-Scene Coordinator (FOSC) and Superfund Technical Assessment and Response Team (START) Contractors responded.
