At 0700, August 3, 2018, a tanker truck carrying diesel was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on State Hwy 4 in Orangeburg, SC. The vehicle lost approximately 4,000 gallons. SCDHEC is on scene assessing and directing the response. The Responsible Party has hired an environmental contractor and is on scene mitigating the spill. The diesel landed on the road and along a ditch. The closest body of water is Great Branch and it is 1 mile from the incident. EPA R4 Phone Duty Officer dispatched FOSC Kevin Eichinger to assess the spill.
