Ackerman, Choctaw County, MS - Phone Duty received NRC notification of train derailment in which 1 locomotive overturned and released approximately 1200 gals of fuel. Derailment occurred in a very remote, hard to access location, about 1-2 miles from a road. The fuel travelled into a small creek/ditch about 500-1000 ft from the track, that runs parallel to the track. This ditch leads to Boguefallah Creek. The RP hired environmental contractor USES, who has initiated containment of the spilled material, which has not entered Boguefallah Creek at this point. SOSC Ernie Shirley and EPA OSC R1 Katrina Jones en-route to oversee RP clean-up activities.
