ARG Resources, Inc., is Region III’s largest Underground Injection Control (UIC) Class II enhanced recovery facility which and located in north central Pennsylvania. The facility has 658 injection wells and close to 1000 production wells. The facility began producing oil in the 1950s and so has been operating as an enhanced oil recovery facility since the beginning of the UIC program. Due to financial issues and non-compliance with EPA and PA DEP Orders, ARG began shutting down their facilities on February 14th, 2019, without proper plugging and abandonment which could lead to an environmental and public health hazard.
