On 5/11/06, GAEPD contacted EPA/R4/ERRB and advised that they needed assistance responding to a mercury spill in Macon, Georgia. GAEPD advised that a child found mercury on the roadside, outside of his residence, and that he had played with the mercury before attending school. Furthermore, GAEPD advised that an unknown amount of mercury was still present adjacent to the residence. GAEPD requested EPA assistance in assessing the extent of contamination. OSC Glenn Adams has been dispatched to the site.
