The KYDEP called to report a release of oil from an above ground crude oil tank. The spill occurred due to overfilling. An estimated 200 to 300 gallons were spilled to an unnamed tributary to the Little Sandy River. The state felt the RP's cleanup attempt was insufficient and they were willing to conduct the cleanup. The FOSC coordinated cleanup activities with the state. The state encountered more oil than expected, expanding the scope beyond what was initially thought. KYDEP updated telephone duty, who dispatched FOSC Russell to advise the State. Interception trenches were excavated down gradient and about 400 gallons of oil have been recovered to date.
