On September 6, 2007, the Platte Pipeline System experienced a rupture in rural Montgomery County, Missouri. The result was a crude oil spill onto the ground of approximately 4,769 barrels (200,298 gallons) of 30-50 API grade sweet "Platte" crude. Kinder Morgan operates the 1,700-mile system that links production in Canada and the Rockies with Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois.
