USCG AND FDEP responded to a ruptured anhydrous ammonia pipeline that runs over the Alafia River. The rupture occurred when some youths drilled a hole in the line. Currently, the link is leaking ammonia into the river as a liquid and the air as a gas. Hillsborough County Fire is shooting the line with water cannons in order to knock down the ammonia vapor. A half mile evacuation is in place around the line until the sleeve is in place. The flow of ammonia has been shut off to the line to prevent further gas from leaking, but there is still ammonia inside the pipe. The RP is in the process of bleeding a section of the pipe so that the ruptured area can be fixed.
