Removal Investigation Status
• EPA has completed performing a Baseline Ecological Risk Assessment (BERA) which included:
o Collecting and analyzing environmental media samples (surface water, pore water, and sediment) from multiple locations in the Mahanoy Creek watershed;
o Evaluating the potential for exposure to occur through the discharge of contaminated ground water to the surface water;
o Performing site-specific toxicity tests using site surface water and sediment; and
o Performing a survey of the benthic macroinvertebrates (BMI) community in the Mahonoy Creek.
The Final BERA report has been issued and distributed.
Future Work
• EPA does not plan any additional work at this site.
