80-gallons of oil was released from two of three, Toledo Edison pole-mounted transformers that fell during a storm. The oil entered the storm sewer system and was discharged into a small nearby creek. The PCB concentration was suspected to range from >50 to <500 parts per million (ppm). Ohio EPA and the City of Toledo responded and requested U.S. EPA assistance. Toledo Edison's contractor Cousins contained and removed the oil from the creek and jetted the sewer. Laboratory results showed the oil to contain 14 ppm PCBs. Wipe samples of the sewer showed non-detect.
