Officials from the Village of Ottoville was attempting to determine the source of odors in a commercial building located in Ottoville, Ohio. Reports of a "gasoline odor" was reported by a business owner sometime in the spring of 2009. A request was made to Ohio EPA for assistance, and the gasoline odors were confirmed. There are two (2) active and three (3) historic gasoline stations in close proximity to the area that the odors are occuring. Ohio EPA investigated the storm sewer system as the odor was strong in nearby catch basins but no evidence of a product was found. On September 22, 2009, Ohio EPA requested assistance from US EPA in determining the source of the odors.
