The Wando VCC Site was a former fertilizer plant located on approximately 11 acres along the Ashley River (riverfront) in North Charleston, South Carolina. Site investigations revealed the presence of magenta slag along with elevated concentrations of arsenic and lead in soil and sediment. The presence of magenta colored slag along with arsenic and lead are commonly associated with former fertilizer production plants.

Exxon Mobile acquired this property through a series of business mergers associated with the Virginia-Carolina Chemical company. Exxon Mobile has agreed to cooperate with EPA to assess and when necessary perform clean up actions on the former VCC sites.
