Goody Cleaners is a formerly operating clothing dry cleaner that was identified by the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), Land Remediation and Development Office, for having once operated a perchloroethylene (PCE) solvent dry cleaning machine unit in the basement rear of the facility – immediately next to a YMCA youth center. The DDOE conducted a preliminary assessment and site screening inspection at the site pursuant to its pre-remedial cooperative agreement with EPA in May 2012 and September 2013, respectively. The site screening inspection confirmed that PCE vapors are present in the sub-slab soil of Goody’s.
On February 07, 2014 the FOSC, DDOE rep and Start contractor initiated indoor air sampling event at the nearby YMCA-Calomaris youth daycare. A total of 10 summa cannisters were placed throughout two different facilities nearby the Goodys Dry Cleaners. On Februaly 08 the 24hour samples were retrieved and dropped off at the EPA Region III lab at Ft. Meade, Md. It is anticipated that 7 day turnaround on verbal results will occur.
