On Wednesday 1/8/2014 at 1019 through the NRC, EPA R1 was informed about an estimated 200 gallon (3000 lb) sulfuric acid release at the Mann Chemical facility in Warwick, RI. The NRC report indicated that the release was to ground but some of the sulfuric acid did reach water. The potentially impacted water body is the Apponguag Cove which is a part of Narragansett Bay. After speaking with RI DEM they indicated that they have concerns about the facility and their reporting practices so they are requesting EPA presence on scene. EPA OSC England was sent to the scene as the region Responder.
