A CSX train was inadvertently diverted onto a facility siding where it collided with tanker cars already stationed at the Archroma facility in Martin, SC. The collision ripped open a tanker car of hydrochloric acid and one of the on-board fuel tanks on the locomotive. An estimated 19,000 gallons of HCl and 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilled, with much of the diesel entering a low-lying drainage area. EPA has deployed 2 OSCs along with START and QSI contractors. OSC Garrard mobilized with Tetra Tech START and QSI to assess and monitor the PRP's progress.
