A 5 story commercial building at 112 West Main Street, Ottawa, LaSalle County is about to collapse. Brick sides are bowing out, the roof is open, stairwells are falling down. It may collapse onto a bank on the west side or into the street or both. The building is contaminated with friable asbestos throughout all 5 floors. The building owner has attempted to donate the building to the City and potential developers have walked away due to the severe structural problems. City officials are requesting assistance to address the impending threat to the City's citizens in the downtown area.
