2. Current Activities
  2.1 Operations Section
   

The followingactivities occurred during this reporting period:

  • ERRS backfilled the east and west containment areas with clean fill and then topped that layer with layers of gravel and rock in order to provide a proper runoff area for stormwater.  In addition, a stormwater channel was placed at the back of the capped area to direct the flow of water to the stormwater ditch that runs behind the Site.
  • START demobilized their personnel and equipment from the Site 2/10/2011.
  • ERRS also completed the process of cleaning the Site and demobilizing their equipment from the Site.  Demobilization activities were completed on 2/15/2011.

The following statistics summarize the Operations at the Site:

From the Warehouse:

  • 302 55-gallon drums, 2 totes, and 228 small containers were hazcatted.
  • 509 containers from the chemical storage closet and 565 containers from the lab were hazcatted.
  • This resulted in 330 drums being removed from the warehouse.
  • In addition, 8 compressed gas cylinders and 4 pallets of diatomite and bentonite were removed.

201, 582 gallons of waste liquids and sludges were removed fromthe 26 ASTs at the Site.

1,775 tons of tank bottoms and sludges were solidified usingcotton trash.

14,400 pounds of aluminum, 7,530 tons of stainless steel, and106.3 tons of steel from the ASTs were recycled.

Demolition at the Site included 26 ASTs, the glycol recyclingprocessor, 4 tanker trucks and one tractor trailer.

No further activities are planned by ERRB at this Site, however, the Site has been referred to SRSEB for evaluation of any potential groundwater contamination from the operations at the Site.
