2.1.1 Narrative
As stated earlier, the Site had a previous Removal Site Evaluation conducted by EPA in June, July, and August of 2007. Detailed information on that RSE can be found in POLREP #1 and in the Final RSE Report submitted 11/21/2007. However, a review of that data concludes that the threats posed still remain. After a review of the data generated from the previous site evaluation and the current site condition, ERRB concluded that the site met the criteria as set forth in 40 CFR 300.415 (b)(2) for a time critical removal action. An Action Memorandum was signed on September 10, 2010 to initiate a time-critical removal action at the Site.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
The following actionstook place during this reporting: - ERRS continued to pump out the ASTs on site. During this reporting period 17 loads of material were shipped off site for an approximate total volume of 79,000 gallons removed during this reporting period and 227,000 gallons total. Temperature continues to be an issue on site as the recent sub-freezing temperatures are causing the hoses and liquids to freeze or become very viscous.
- Two truckloads (70 and 54 drums respectively) were also loaded and shipped off the site on 12/6/10. These drums contained Non-DOR/Non-RCRA Waste, waste sodium hydroxide, and 28 lab packs. Removal of these drums completes cleanup activities of the chemicals from the warehouse, lab, and lab closet. This brings the total drums count to 323 with 4 pallets of solid materials and 8 compressed gas cylinders removed from the Site.
- ERRS began demolition of the ASTs on 12/9/10. During this reporting period, three tanks were demolished. Tanks are being cut into 10 foot sections, then are decontaminated, then placed into storage boxes. The steel from the tanks in then sent to a metal recycler.

2.2.1 Anticipated Activities
2.2.1.1 Planned Response Activities
During the next reporting period it is anticipated that the removal of materials from and demolition of the ASTs will continue. Crews will work until 12/21/10 and then demobilize from the Site for the Holidays. work will resume on-site on 1/4/11.
2.2.1.2 Next Steps Once back from the Holiday break, demolition will continue on the ASTs.
2.2.2 Issues Temperature continues to be an issue. As the temperature drops some of the sludgy materials in the ASTs has become harder to pump.
