2.1.1 Narrative
The PRP is funding and subcontracting the asbestos abatement work.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
Since the last reporting period the following events have occurred: The air clearance testing of the main building was conducted on December 7, 2010. The analytical results were reported to the asbestos abatement subcontractor on December 8, 2010. All air clearance analytical results were reportedly below the regulatory levels indicating the building has passed the air clearance test. Although the asbestos abatement prime contractor stated that a copy of the analytical air clearance results would be forwarded to EPA, these results have not yet been received. On December 9, 2010, the asbestos abatement subcontractor glove-bagged the ACM covering the two pipes on the second story of the southwest wing of Building 3. Asbestos lying on the third story floor of the southwest wing was also removed. The asbestos abatement subcontractor subsequently demobilized their equipment from the Site.
While conducting work in the basement in the collapsing roof area the asbestos abatement subcontractor exposed an approximately 100 square foot area of what appears to be soil contaminated with an unknown substance. The asbestos abatement prime contractor is making arrangements to have this contaminated soil sampled, as well as, the containers in the building.
