2.1 Operations Section

2.1.1 Narrative
Final grading of the John Street Staging Area was completed. Restoration of impacted concrete and asphalt areas was completed. Restoration vegetation plantings continue.
2.1.2 Response Actions to Date
From November 9 to November 22, EPA and ERRS contractors conducted the following activities:
Site Activities - John Street Staging Area
- Mobilized in one operator and skid steer to regrade former staging pad area, then demobilzed same;
- Applied grass seed/fertilizer mix and straw for erosion control on former staging pad area;
- Demobilized EPA's mobile wastewater treatment plant; and
- Conducted final elevation survey of staging pad area.
Site Activities - SA1A, SA1B & SA1C
- Continued restoration of vegetation according to area-specific restoration plan;
- Replaced or repaired impacted sidewalk, street curb and entrance aprons; and
- Repaired or replaced impacted asphalt in parking lots.
Site Activities - SA5A
- Restored vegetation on east bank according to area-specific restoration plan; and
- Replaced impacted sidewalk sections.
Site Activities - SA3A
- Replaced impacted sidewalk, street curbs and entrance aprons.
Project Management Activities
- Developed close-out letters for individual property owners affected by project; and
- Continued development of project final report.

- Discontinue weekly progress meetings with City of Kalamazoo and property owners;
- Continue development of project final report;

- Develop presentations and finalize preparations for final public meetings relating to project.

Craig Thomas and Andy Maguire served as safety officer(s). The HASP is reviewed and signed by all site personnel. All new personnel, including sub-contractors, are provided a site orientation and safety briefing. Safety meetings are held each morning with all site workers.

2.7 Information Officer
A Fact Sheet providing an update on the overall Allied Paper/Portage Creek/Kalamazoo River Superfund Site was developed and mailed. A section of this Fact Sheet provides an update on the Portage Creek Area of the Site and announces a public meeting to be held on December 4 (See Section 2.7.1).
2.7.1 Public Information Officer
A public meeting relating to the overall Allied Paper/Portage Creek/Kalamazoo River Superfund Site is scheduled for December 4 at 6:30 pm at the Radison Plaza Hotel, 100 W. Michigan Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI. An update on the status of the project will be provided at the meeting.
